Clematis 'Black Prince'

Clematis 'Black Prince' is not black but a very deep purple! Flowering July to September in any aspect, it can be hard pruned in Spring. Looks very striking when first in flower, I have it growing through Hypericum 'Hidcote' the contrast is stunning. Raised by Alister Keay of New Zealand and introduced in 1994. Although parentage is not known both its leaves and seed heads indicate a strong C. viticella connection, it is therefore in our collection.
